Our chapter is in its fifth year. As of April 12, 2023, we have 61 members from 7 states.
We are fortunate to train and test at beautiful Pheasants on Kara Creek Ranch, in the Black Hills of Wyoming, near the town of Sundance. Great grounds make for excellent training and testing conditions.
The mission of the Black Hills Chapter is to teach our members how to train their own dogs. This is done through training sessions and clinics. The foundation and basics are covered in training, but most of the work will be done between training days by the handler, who builds on what is learned at training days.
Handlers must be committed to their own training programs in order to be successful. Work outside of chapter training and clinics will be necessary to bring out the best in your hunting companion.
There are few things more rewarding than watching a hunting dog's "light come on." It's a wonderful thing when a well-bred pup begins to have confidence in its natural hunting ability, especially when you have been working with that pup. Train with a positive attitude. We do this because we love it!
We welcome interested folks to join us for one training day in order to learn about NAVHDA and our chapter. All adults and children in attendance who are not members of NAVHDA International must have signed liability waivers. Bird fees will apply.
